About the session
Theme: Data analytics | Systems thinking
This session introduces UCD practitioners to the often‑unseen data and analytics ecosystem that underpins public service transformation.
Drawing on insights from 10 projects, it explains how data flows through organisations, what enables or blocks effective analytics, and key considerations for designing front‑end services that rely on accurate data.
Participants will explore the data lifecycle, types and uses of public sector data, and the basics of GDPR. The session also presents 2 ecosystem frameworks - a landscape view and a full‑stack view - to help practitioners collaborate more confidently with data, policy and engineering teams and recognise emerging design tensions in data‑driven transformation.
Participant takeaways:
- how data flows through organisations
- what enables or blocks good analytics
- data considerations to ensure accurate analytics when designing front-end public services
