About the session
Theme: Communities of practice
Digital screening has recently grown, but knowledge of the NHS service standard has not necessarily grown with it.
In this session, Joe and Magdalena will talk about how they upskilled themselves and created a dynamic community of practice to steer them towards the standard, and how they used it to champion solving whole problems for users by teams working to the same framework.
They will talk about how they created this community, the benefits and challenges of creating and maintaining it, the results to be gained from it, and share tips for running a similar community of practice, so that people can start it in their departments.
Participant takeaways:
- what makes a good community of practice - how to communicate it and how to structure sessions to get the most out of them
- the benefits of following the service standard: making sure that we are solving the right problem for users (the public and staff in the back office), including the right people, and an evidence-based approach
- how to use the service standard to bring together a multidisciplinary team, which helps to democratise design
- how to promote inclusion and culture of care both organisationally and within services
