About the session
Theme: Test and learn
What does it actually look and feel like to do design as a team sport in a different type of multi-disciplinary team?
Through honest reflections from 2 projects in the Test, Learn and Grow programme, Jemima and Hannah will share what they've learned so far about democratising design - loosening their grip on familiar and safe design processes, spotting design happening in unexpected places, and navigating the tension between relational practice and quantitative outcomes.
Participant takeaways:
- pragmatic examples of ongoing work through the Test, Learn and Grow programme on to involve others in the design process, which may spark reflections you can draw into your own work
- honest learnings so far on doing design as a team sport in a different type of multidisciplinary team - with local government, and with other disciplines: what’s worked, what hasn’t, and what they’re trying now
- reflective discussion on how people ‘do design’ as central government civil servants working in varied local contexts, and participants’ experiences of doing design pragmatically
